They initially believed he could be from somewhere upstream in Warwickshire. After analysing his DNA, the man's identity was confirmed today.

Detective Sergeant Craig Tennant from West Mercia Police said: “It is a relief we have confirmed who this man is and his family can now start grieving for their loved one.

“I would like to thank those people from across the country who contacted us with information about who this gentleman may have been.”

Pershore man

A 70-year-old man from Pershore who went missing last week has been found dead in the River Avon, it was confirmed today.

Christopher Guy Treharne was found near Pershore Bridge at 5pm on Thursday 6th March. Known locally as Guy, he was last seen on Sunday 2nd March.
