Suffering from a dislocated knee and a shoulder injury, his knee was put back in place before he was flown to University Hospital in Coventry.

An ambulance spokesperson said: “Due to the safety equipment worn by the man, it appears to have saved him from suffering any gravel rash injuries and also undoubtedly helped to minimise other injuries. It was definitely money well spent.”

Emergency services were called to the crash between Barford and Wellesbourne just after 8.30am.

The A429 was closed for accident investigation work throughout the morning and the area was gridlocked with traffic.
