Jamie Sheldon put them ahead on 12 minutes but Didcot striker John Mills levelled matters at the break with an equaliser midway through the first-half.

Two second-half strikes from leading scorer Richard Gregory on 53 minutes and Chris Sterling 10 minutes later sealed victory for Carl Adams’ men.

All of which left the Town boss very contented. “We played well against a decent team and thoroughly deserved the win,” said Adams.

“We’re not getting carried away, let’s see where we are after five games. We’ve got a couple of tough away games coming up but two wins in our opening two games sets us up nicely for them.

“We look a team now and there’s a strong beat throughout. At times I thought that we passed Didcot off the pitch and I also thought that Sam Adkins was outstanding in midfield.”
