After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Sutton posted a total of 216-6 from their 55 overs. Stratford spinners James Urquhart and Anthony Pratley both took two wickets each with seamers Chris Whelan and Mike Brown claiming one apiece.

And it was skipper Whelan who led the reply with an innings of 56 as his side reached 176-7 at the end of the 55 overs. Dexter Purser was unbeaten two runs short of a half-century on 48, while Dan Protherough made 20.

Stratford now lie in second place in the table after Streetly suffered an eight-wicket defeat at Bridgnorth.

Whelan’s men travel to Kings Heath next Saturday.
