Figures released by Arts Council England show that between 2012 and 2015 the RSC will have received a total of £47,157,250.

From 2015 to 2018 it will get £46,341,000. Taking inflation into account, this is a cut of 6.7%.

Gregory Doran, the RSC’s artistic director, said today: “The arts have demonstrated a brilliant case for public investment over the years and it is an act of creative myopia to continue to squeeze funding.”
