An ambulance, a paramedic area support officer and an emergency doctor attended the scene.

“Crews found a car on the opposite side of the carriageway after it had left the road and collided with a grass verge,” an ambulance spokesperson said.

“The driver and sole occupant, a 27-year-old man, sustained a head injury. Ambulance staff worked to treat and stabilise the man whilst the fire service carefully extricated him from the wreckage.

“The man was immobilised with a neck collar and spinal board before being taken by land ambulance to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment.”
