A MOTORCYCLIST was airlifted to hospital following a road traffic collision on the A439 Stratford to Warwick road on Saturday afternoon.
The 27-year old man was injured after his motorcycle collided with a stationary. He sustained fractures to his arm and leg in the collision.
A land ambulance from West Midlands Ambulance Service was first on the scene but the crew requested the assistance of Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA).
WNAA received the call at around 3.43pm and landed next to the accident 11 minutes later.
The patient was assessed by the WNAA crew before being sedated and immobilised. A pelvic and traction splint were applied as well as a vacuum splint to his arm. He was also given pain relief, anti-sickness medication and medication to help with blood loss.
He was then flown to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment.
